Should Singlish be the official language in Singapore?
Hahahahaha. Even if we say we cannot use this language, we as Singaporeans still cannot get away from it. We use it in our daily lives. It is known as the 'second-language' here. But, it is commonly used among the typical Singaporeans, while the educated ones use standard English. Therefore, we can differentiate which is the Educated one and the other way around. Singlish is also known as broken English, for a speaker that cannot speak English that well. But for me, Singlish is a very special language that cannot be found in other countries. It shows how unique our type of communication in Singapore is. It symbolises Singaporeans where of speaking, and i'm sure people from other countries is impressed with the language. :) However, we as students musn't use it always, (although we sometimes tend to) as it will be a very bad influence for our speaking of normal English. We can use it while communicating with the older people that is not very good at speaking fluent English. Official language? Certainly not. As third language for us Singaporeans? Definitely.
