speaking good english,

To me, speaking good English is very important because its the only language in Singapore that seems to allow us to communicate among each other, especially when our country is multi-racial. We need English to be able to talk among ourselves. However, in Singapore, we developed the language Singlish and used that instead of fluent English. To me, English is important also because we need English wherever we go. Especially after we finish our education and we go to work, we need English to communicate. Our country is not like Malaysia that takes the language Malay as their first subject and talk Malay. Therefore, English is a very improtant subject to score in Singapore.

book review,

Book title : Glamour.

This book is about 3 bestfriends, Sally, Jane and Helen. Helen is an arabian girl who migrated to LA and was posted to a local high school. She made friends with Jane and Sally. Jane has a father, which doesn't seem to care about her and lived in another country. Jane live in LA with a nanny. Sally is the most richest, prettiest and popular girl in their hometown. She lives in a mansion, and everyone in high school respected her. Until one day, where all three girls was experiencing big problems. Sally's family had gone bankrupt and her father had heart attacked right after he heard the news and he died. Jane's father died too, overstressed. Helen was sent back to Egypt and was forced to get married with a local businessman. Everything was a mess, and soon the three girls was seperated and never found each other again. 4 years later, they found each other again. Now, the three girls had advanced and achieved in life. Sally had a small town shop which sells makeup, accessories and the products that girls love. Jane had became the young businesswoman and Helen, took over her husband's company of selling carpets after he died. The girls met up again, and they created a big business line from makeup to carpets, and the shop was called "Glamour". It was successful.
The story teaches me about how important friends are, and we have to treasure them while we can. No matter what hardships we went through, friends must always be remembered.

What does it mean to be a singaporean.

Being a Singaporean to me is being a gracious and harmonious citizen in our harmonious country. Singapore is a multi-racial country and we as Singaporeans should really be proud of that. Actually, I'm really proud to be a Singaporean because there is a lot of things that we can succeed on. Furthermore, we have peace in our country which many countries lack on. Singapore has done a lot for me. I've gained experiences from different events. For example, i performed on National Day celebration this year with the presence of our very own Prime Minister. If Singapore doesn't planned or organise events like this that gives us a chance to interact with the Prime Minister, i can never have a chance to show off my talents. Other than that, Singapore has really advanced in a lot of areas. We have public transports here, everywhere, that allows us to go wherever we want to easily. This way, i can easily travel from one place to another, without worrying getting late or without worrying how to get there. My dream is to make Singapore proud of me one day, i hope to represent Singapore and make my country proud of me. I want the countries in the world to know that Singapore is no ordinary country although its only a tiny red dot. Whatever it is, i would not leave Singapore as this is where i belong and where i grew up. This is the land that taught me eveything, and no way am i going to leave it. But if i have to one day, this wonderful country will not be forgotten.

euthanasia.

Euthanasia? are you kiddng me? of course its a very cruel thing to do. Be it for human or for animals. I do not think its a 'cool' thing to do. But not all Euthanasia is cruel, some Euthanasia processes is needed for certain people. For example, chemotherapy is a form of Euthanasia for cancer people, as a form of meditation to relieve pain. This type of Euthanasia is called paasive Euthanasia, which is the accepted form. For the active form, Euthanasia is used as a form of killing, which is totally unreasonable. I heard that the SPCA uses Euthanasia for animals that they think do not have hope to live anymore. I really think Euthanasia should really banned, because if it is used wrongly, its a form of cruelty. For the passive one, it must not be stoopped.

final draft 3.

Lila longed to come back to this very village, where she grew up, where her family suffered – everything stays the same. As she enters the river bank that leads to her house, she remembered the days when she came back from school with Robbi, her bestfriend although neither one in the village agreed to their friendship because of their religion. Robbi, where could he be now?
The commotion outside Lila’s one-bedroom small village house made her felt curious as to what is happening. She got distracted, so she got up and head straight to the main door, where her parents were already standing.
“What’s happening ma?” asked Lila in Sinhalese.
“I’m not quite sure myself Lila, look at them yourself.” Her mother, Luchmi, answered, looking all confused. Lila looked outside, and to her amazement, the narrow pathway in between her house and her neigjbour’s house outside was filled with unknown people striding past through. Some Englishmen were walking together with the others too, mainly Indians. But to Lila, the faces there were unfamiliar. The other villagers, who was all curious like Lila and her family were watching the commotion too, confused. Since neither of them knew what is happening, Lila and her parents went back in the house and her father, Mr Raja, locked the door.
“Thats the British people, but the other Indian people, I am not sure who they are. Lets just hope nothing’s going to happen,” her father added and went straight to the room they shared. “Lila, aren’t you going to sleep? Off to sleep now, you’ll be late for school tomorrow.” Mdm Luchmi said, and Lila just nodded and went to the room. Next morning, after freshening up herself, Lila head to the kitchen for her morning refreshment. Mdm Luchmi handed her a glass of tea, and gave her books for school. Lila’s father had gone to the fields for work and her mother will be off to the market as soon as Lila leaves for school. On her way to school that day, one of Lila’s bestfriend, Nina, came hurrying behind her.
“Lila, did you hear about the Tamils yesterday?” asked Nina, gasping for air as she had ran all thw way in other to catch up with Lila.
“Tamils?” Lila asked in surprise.
“Yes, the Tamils. They came with the Englishmen to stay here and work here. Thats what my father told me. Isn’t that unfair? My family’s very angry! They cannot just come here and stay here. This is our country, not theirs!” added Nina angrily. Lila shrugged and continued walking. Tamils.. work.. stay here... thought Lila the whole day. Somehow or rather, Nina is right. The Tamils cannot just come here and snatch away whats ours.
Later in the evening, Lila and her parents went to the rose square where the villagers always held the discussions, events and festivals together. “We cannot let them stay here for free! After all, we were the majority here! Tamils do not belong here! Sinhalese do!” said one of the leaders in the village.
“Yes, yes! This country is ours!” echoed the other villagers.“Therefore, we will now head to the British people and say our part. Lets go!” Along the way, Lila was pushed further to the back of the crowd, and lost sight with her parents. Lila than decided to go home and wait for her parents when sudenly,
“Psssst! Psssssstttt!” Lila looked everywhere to locate that voice, and finally she found someone under a bush.
“What are you doing there? Get off that bush!” Lila said in Sinhalese. “I don’t understand anything you just said,” replied the boy. Lila was familiar with that language, she learnt it in school. “You’re a Tamil I see.” Said Lila.
After a few days of disagreement in the arrival of Tamils in their village, the Tamils was stated as “stateless”. Lila was getting alomg well with her new friend Robbi, although she knew that they were not suppose to. The village people was quite happy with it until one day. The villagers began to realised that the Tamils gets better jobs than them. Robbi told Lila that the advantage of Tamils is that, they could speak English and therefore, British offers Tamils better jobs than Sinhalese.
“That is certainly not fair at all!” shrieked Lila.
“SHHHH! We cannot let anyone know that we’re here. Do you want me to teach you some simple English?” Robbi said.
Lila had learnt the English language and got better at it as days gone pass by. The villagers also agreed that the Tamils had to learn the Sinhalese in three years, or they shall be chased out.
“Lila! What am I suppose to do? My family cannot be chased out!” Robbi said.
“I can help you.” Lila grins.
“You’ll help me? Are you sure?”
“Yes, lets begin.”
Robbi’s family and him himself was saved. Robbi managed to learn abit of Sinhalese, which was better than nothing. Their friendship gets stronger, no matter what the hardships that they went through. A few years passed, and Lila went to University. Same goes to Robbi. Sri Lanka also had been even towards the Tamils. Tamils were allowed to stay there, in some parts. But, the Tamils still had to speak Sinhalese.

Xinjiang riots.

There was a racial riot involving Muslim Uighur and Han Chinese in the chinese city of
Urumqi somewhere in July. Around 100 over people were killed and 1000 over were
badly injured. Someone called Mr Zhi Guanzheng for failing to stop the riot, against the
Han Chinese.

I felt that, if the fight still go on, it would reflect a very bad impression towards the country.
We should not be racist now against each other, or it would be very tough for the
government and the people in the country.

Totto-chan book review.

Totto Chan is a dreamer, and she got expelled from her normal school. But she got in a
very special school, Tomoe Gakuen School. Mr Koyobashi, the principal of the school, love kids like Totto Chan a lot. The students in Tomoe Gakuen School was taught differently from students in any other school, as the pricipal teaches subjects that is irrelevant from any other school's education. It was fun, and Totto Chan indeed enjoyed herself there.

However, Totto Chan's dreams was crushed when the school got bombed in a war.
I was very touched when Totto Chan's school got bombed. It was a very sad thing. Totto Chan
had very high dreams of being in the school. But it got crushed by the war.
