To me, speaking good English is very important because its the only language in Singapore that seems to allow us to communicate among each other, especially when our country is multi-racial. We need English to be able to talk among ourselves. However, in Singapore, we developed the language Singlish and used that instead of fluent English. To me, English is important also because we need English wherever we go. Especially after we finish our education and we go to work, we need English to communicate. Our country is not like Malaysia that takes the language Malay as their first subject and talk Malay. Therefore, English is a very improtant subject to score in Singapore.
